There was something about the Premier-style beats or the Hieroglyphics-style beats, Digable Planets…and then I had this obsession, too, with DJ Magic Mike. It kind of tells the tale on how Trunk Muzik came to be because all of that if you listen, you can hear all of those influences. If you listen to “Speak Her Sex,” it’s got a crazy break beat, but the 808 is still really knockin’ underneath there.
